Alertus Technologies and the Texas Computer Education Association Partner to Offer Emergency Preparedness Grant to Texas Schools

Member colleges and school districts can now apply for the Alertus Grant

Baltimore, MD – Alertus Technologies, a leader in emergency mass notification solutions, today announced a partnership with the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) to offer an emergency preparedness grant to Texas schools in need of enhancing their safety and notification systems. The grant, valued up to $75,000, will be offered to one qualified member of the TCEA.

“As K-12 schools and higher education institutions across the country face rising threats, including severe weather, active shooter incidents, Covid-19 challenges, and more, it’s critical that underserved districts and campuses have access to the tools needed to keep their communities safe and secure,” said Caroline Kilday, Director of Marketing and head of Philanthropy at Alertus. “We are proud to continue our successful partnership with TCEA for the 2021-2022 academic year, reaching additional schools across Texas and helping educators and students focus on learning.” This is the third year Alertus and TCEA have partnered to provide this grant to association members.

Alertus actively works to reach local and international communities that are insufficiently prepared for an emergency or disaster event. Through the Alertus Grants Program, organizations have the opportunity to enhance their emergency preparedness strategies with free hardware and software solutions from Alertus. This program is an extension of the Alertus Safe in Seconds initiative, which has provided over 700 non-profit organizations across the world with the Alertus Desktop Notification tool. In partnership with TCEA, Alertus will expand its grants program to support more K-12 schools and higher education institutions in need across Texas.

"TCEA is thrilled to continue our partnership with Alertus for a third year to provide our members with this funding opportunity," said Lori Gracey, Executive Director of TCEA. "While technology is very much a key component to communication, Alertus doesn't just offer technology solutions for schools and districts. It also offers peace of mind with the knowledge that communication would be prompt and accurate in the event of an emergency. We want to extend access to this technology and peace of mind to more families, students, educators, and staff."

To apply for the grant, applicants must be a TCEA member and a registered non-profit organization or a government entity such as a school, library, or public agency. Priority will be given to high-risk and high-need organizations.

TCEA members can apply via the TCEA website at https://tcea.org/about/partners/grants/alertus. Grant applications will be accepted until November 5, 2021.
