Alertus Technologies was developed in the wake of a tragedy. In 2001, our founder was a student at the University of Maryland when an F3 tornado ripped through the campus. There was no warning and two students—sisters—were killed. The tornado caused dozens of injuries and millions of damages. At our core, we understand that even a few seconds of warning can help save lives during an emergency.

That’s why Alertus is dedicated to enhancing safer workplaces, safer schools, and safer communities across the world through our mass notification technology. For the better part of 20 years, Alertus has worked to make sure that our solution can be implemented anywhere and activated quickly and effectively. Since 2019, our Philanthropy department has been brainstorming different ways to ensure all schools regardless of size or budget can instantly reach their people when they need it most.

So how can we ensure that ALL schools, regardless of budget, can be SAFE IN SECONDS?

Starting in January 2020, Alertus will be launching the SAFE IN SECONDS initiative. Through this initiative, Alertus will provide the Alertus Desktop Notification at no cost to schools and non-profit organizations. The Alertus Desktop instantly grabs the attention of computer users with full-screen alerts for any emergency. This program is an extension of the Alertus Desktop Donation program, which to date has provided over 700 non-profit organizations across the world with the Alertus Desktop Notification tool.
